~~~ Remember... You CAN Fight Back! ~~~
Here are some items to avoid in your home and garden:
-
Antibacterial products with triclosan
-
Chemical pesticides and Fertilizers
-
Cookware with non-stick coating
-
Cosmetics and toiletries with synthetic fragrances
-
Electronics containing brominated flame
retardants
We will discuss most of these in later issues, but this is a good place to start.
If you are pregnant, eat healthy, exercise, take prenatal vitamins (or eat good, organic vitamin e source foods), stay stress
free, educate yourself about being healthy and how to take care of your coming baby.
Most of us have little understanding about which chemicals are dangerous, to whom, and at what levels of exposure. It is
safest to assume that any chemical is highly hazardous unless comprehensive safety data exists that proves otherwise.
Next, you should learn all you can about the toxic chemicals in your food.
When in Doubt, Go Organic!
You should eliminate as much refined and processed sugar and flour as possible, and ALL trans-fats.
According to the FDA,
"Scientific evidence shows that consumption of saturated fat, trans fat, and dietary cholesterol raises low-density
lipoprotein (LDL), or "bad cholesterol," levels, which increases the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD)."
CHD kills more than 500,000 people each year. Over 12,500,000 people have CHD in America.
One of the best things you can do for your family is to eliminate as many processed foods as possible. This means (DON'T
let us hear you groan!) that someone will have to spend a bit more time in the kitchen. After you get used to it, the foods that you
prepare will taste so much better that you will thank us.
